Dear Friends:
Holy Week continues with the observance of Maundy Thursday, and, of course, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Maundy Thursday is associated with The Last Supper. I honor the meaning of this event that is traditional to so many, and I also offer the suggestion that it was far from the Lord’s “Last” Supper. He is an honored Presence at supper tables around the world every night. He reminds us of this fact in the final words in the Gospel of Matthew 28:20 – “…and, lo, I am with you always, to the end of the world. Amen.” I think he added that “amen” for special emphasis. We know it as, “and so it is.”
And so, Jesus the Christ, our precious Wayshower and Elder Brother, is with us, at every meal and through every day and night. He is with us not as a passive observer but as an active, unconditionally loving presence. He is with us never to force the Truth on us, but there to remind us that It lives in us. This Easter my hope is that we can come to believe the Reality of his presence and his love for us, and in so doing, be reminded of Who we really are, of what beauty and life and authentic power lies within each of us.
Please join us on Good Friday and for our Easter Morning Celebrations. Jesus will surely be here.
