The UCOH Volunteer Ministry is pleased to announce that Liz Huckestein is the Volunteer Of The Month for November 2021. Below, Liz shares a brief testimonial of her nearly 17 years of experience as a member and volunteer in the UCOH community, as well as a brief video from Liz at the bottom of this post.
Liz: I’ve been a member at Unity Church of the Hills for nearly 17 years.
Currently, I volunteer on the Gardening Team and I work with the Youth of Unity teaching 1st thru 5th grades. In the past, I’ve also served on the Hospitality Team and the Newcomers Team. I’ve also volunteered in the Bookstore and with the Youth as a Summer Camp Counselor. I really enjoy volunteering with the Gardening Team. Gardening is a great way for me to get outside and enjoy growing living things. It’s also a lot of fun watching the plants start from super little to super big!
A few weeks ago, I volunteered with the Hands on Housing team in painting a local residence, and often you will find me volunteering at UCOH Special Events!
Volunteering is a great way to connect with everyone at UCOH and share my love for our community with my Unity family. It deepens my feelings of family and belonging. Teaching Sunday School is so rewarding, it gives me such joy to know that we are teaching them the 5 core Principles of Unity at a youthful age. I love emphasizing that we are all one and that love and forgiveness is the greatest power.
The beautiful Sunday music is another reason I love being a UCOH member!! It so inspires me and usually makes me dance in the aisles of the Sanctuary!! I love to dance and I’ll gladly volunteer to dance anytime anyone wants!!
Congratulations and our deepest thanks to you, Liz. We truly appreciate you, and the entire UCOH Community continues to be blessed by your presence and and sacred service to our spiritual home.
