The UCOH Volunteer Ministry is pleased to announce that long time UCOH Member, Steve Mayer is the Volunteer Of The Month for August 2021. Below read Steve’s testimonial of his time in sacred service as a volunteer to the UCOH Community, and also view his video at the bottom of the page.
I have been a UCOH member for 25 years!
Over time, my wife, Linda, and I have served as volunteers in several capacities. Our first experiences volunteering at UCOH go all the way back to when UCOH was meeting in the shopping center location before building our permanent home.
We started as Teaching Angels in the Child Ministry, then later, I became a YOU Sponsor and a Uniteen Teacher. I also helped with the construction of Unity Oaks, and during the holidays, I can be found playing the “Jolly Old Elf” in the Santa Suit, or putting away Christmas decorations until the next season.
I currently serve on the Production Team where, among other things, I film, produce, and edit videos for our social media platforms. I also serve as a volunteer with the Legacy Giving Team, the Dr. Joe Dispenza Meditation Service Team, and have been an active participant for many years with The Men’s Fellowship Network.
I recently retired from a 34-year career as a professional pilot. When I did, I had some fear as to what I would do with all the extra time and how my retirement life would look. However, I surrendered to Spirit and dove even deeper into volunteer service for the UCOH community, those fears were quickly eliminated.
Among many benefits I have received from volunteer service, my favorite is the educational aspect. I have discovered many new skills I didn’t even know I had. It has been a challenge sometimes, but the end result and reward has been increased wisdom. I feel tremendously satisfied when I am told that my time, energy and assistance is helpful to others.
The experience of giving to the community I love, one that serves Truth and practices the teachings of Jesus, is not only enlightening, but also deeply rewarding. Each day, I wake up, I pray, meditate, and breathe into the day ahead, holding the question in mind: “How may I serve today the energy we call God?” The answers I receive become little miracles in my day and life, as I say “yes” to the opportunities that appear from the field of possibilities.
Congratulations, Steve. We are blessed by your presence and your service in the UCOH Community.
