Dear Ones,
I pray that this communication finds you well and safe. We are walking through a time that has no recent precedent. Therefore, it is fertile ground for uncertainty. As individuals and a congregation, we have an opportunity to rest in our faith, knowing that the One, Good Presence is in all of what is happening, despite any seeming evidence to the contrary. We get to know this for ourselves, each other and the world!
You may be aware the Board of Trustees acted this week to suspend all on-site church activities. Church is still happening, it will just be a little different! The action was taken not only for conformance with City and County directives, but to act as a socially responsible community for the health and wellbeing of all. We strongly encourage everyone to be as diligent as possible in minimizing contact with others while we collectively reduce opportunities for transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
While sequestered, we will have opportunities to do some things differently. Holding the spiritual wellbeing of our congregants in mind, the Staff, Board and volunteers are working to more fully develop and enhance our online offerings and ways for us to connect, be spiritually fed and support each other. This Sunday we will have an online service at 11:25 am followed immediately by a community “Going-Deeper” live, interactive session. Our beloved Minister Emeritus Rev. Steve Bolen is delivering a talk about where we are right now and facilitating the subsequent Going-Deeper session! Join us on Sunday for this special message on Facebook Live or on YouTube and the Zoom call interactive session.

Staff is also developing other online experiences throughout the week which will provide opportunities for further connection, discourse, nurturing, support and inspiration. These already include our 11 a.m. Daily Prayer Service Monday – Saturday via Facebook Live, in addition to a number of recurring groups that have moved to an online platform (check with your facilitator or our UCOH calendar for information). Be sure to check the UCOH App, website and your email for further updates.
Please also consider how you plan to contribute to the church during this time. Our community is still served by a dedicated and creative staff that is committed to providing as rich a spiritual experience as possible. In addition, our mortgage and maintenance for our beautiful campus must be sustained. Now, more than ever, we want our tithes to other communities to continue as well. You can contribute via the UCOH App, by texting UCOH to 77977, or by visiting our website. We are so grateful for your extra support during this challenging time.
Our community will walk through this. We have the tools to do this gracefully and our potential provides us the ability to be a calm, principled being of loving action. We are grateful we have Unity Principles we can embody. We’re taking this opportunity to model the practices and resultant consciousness to everyone.
So please avail yourself of our online offerings, participate in the virtual communities we are rolling out to maintain relationships with other like-minded individuals, and be the support to anyone who may need a loving connection. And please do reach out to the staff or Board if you have a particular need or suggestion.
Blessings,
Frank T. Phelan, President
