Rev. Kristen GrandonAbout Rev. Kristen Grandon

My spiritual life has always been of immense importance to me. I grew up as a preacher’s kid, and remember being filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit as a young girl, and singing the Doxology at full volume (much to my mother’s chagrin). While in college, I began a quest to discover a faith that was more aligned with my inner understanding of God which led me to Unity. Unity is a positive path for spiritual living that honors all pathways to God. After graduating from the Unity Institute Ministerial Education Program in 2007, I began working for Unity Worldwide Ministries (UWM). As the Executive Director for Communications for UWM, I have been able to combine my dedication to Spirit with my degree and experience in communications and media in service to the Unity movement. I also enjoyed being the spiritual leader for the Wednesday Service for Unity Temple in downtown Kansas City, MO for over a year. The most important thing I can share with you is that my heart focuses on God just as a compass seeks true North. God is my source for strength, hope, guidance and growth. We are delighted to be joining Unity Church of the Hills.

Rev. Brian GrandonAbout Rev. Brian Grandon

Growing up an adrenaline-junkie, in a non-churched home, I considered myself an atheist until having a mystical experience which radically transformed my life at age 19. At 22 years old, I received a clear calling to ministry while serving as a missionary in the Philippines. It was understood that the fulfillment of the call would come years later, in my mid-forties. I pursued an education and career in the financial world that unwittingly honed my communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. After about 25 years of involvement in charismatic evangelical ministries, I felt the nudge for greater pluralism and broader acceptance. Upon spending time with Buddhist and Hindu friends, and sharing our devotional practices, I could see how Universal Truth was evident in all inclusive, love-based spiritual practices. Unity became the obvious choice for me to continue my spiritual journey and answer the call. I’ve been serving as Sr. Minister of Unity Church of El Cajon, CA since 2014 and I am grateful for the opportunity to join and serve Unity Church of the Hills.

UNITY CHURCH OF THE HILLS ANNOUNCES NEW CO-MINISTERS

Unity Church of the Hills (UCOH), a New Thought spiritual community in Northwest Austin, has named Reverends Brian and Kristen Grandon as its new Co-Ministers.

Board President, Vicky Gale, made the announcement on Sunday, April 23, 2017 following a nationwide search. Vicky said “We are so blessed and honored to announce the Grandons as our new ministers. They bring depth, inspiration and compassion with their positive teaching and leadership.  We look forward to this exciting new chapter for UCOH!”

Grandons first Sunday - July 23The Grandons will begin their ministry on Tuesday, July 18, with their first Sunday message on July 23 at 9:25 & 11:25 a.m. They were introduced to the congregation back in March (https://vimeo.com/208316103) as part of the interview process and there was an instant connection.

The feeling was mutual. As Rev. Kristen said, “We immediately felt embraced and accepted by the community. We left infused with love and eager to join this dynamic spiritual community.”

The church’s former minister and his wife, Rev. Steve & Mary Bolen, announced plans to retire back in September 2016 after getting the nudge from Spirit that it was time. Rev. Steve and Mary were in ministry for over 30 years, their last ten at UCOH. On his final Sunday, June 25, the Board of Trustees bestowed to Rev. Bolen the lifetime title of Minister Emeritus.

Speaking about the Grandons to the congregation of UCOH, Rev. Steve said, “These two amazing, beautiful beings are fully capable of leading and loving this Spiritual Community as it continues to grow and thrive.” He went on to say, “Above everything else, this community is a community of love. My request of you is to lavish your love upon these two beautiful individuals.”
